Maunawili, Hawaii
Marie Medosi grew up and first learned how to ride on the island of O'ahu. On the island, Marie rode and extensively competed in the disciplines of Show Jumping, Hunter Jumper, Barrel Racing, Dressage, and the Hawaii Women's Polo Team. From a young age she was able to compete in upper level competitive Show Jumpers and Dressage, but ultimately pursued dressage for its focus on technique, ride ability, and it's application to art and music.
warendorf, Germany
In 2001, at the age of 17, Marie was very fortunate to be able to attend the International Academy for Equestrian Studies (IAES) in Warendorf, Germany due to a grant from the Hawaii Dressage Society. The Academy was developed as an educational opportunity for dedicated dressage riders from around the world who were not able to receive a classical German dressage education otherwise.
"In September 2003 the International Academy for Equestrian Studies (IAES) was closed due to financial struggles that occured - in large part – as a result of the war in Iraq and the SARS outbreak. However, the idea that drove the IAES – that a professional equestrian education should be available for every ambitious rider in the world - has remained alive. The succesful team lead by Stephan Kiesewetter has found a new organization to provide that high quality education and much more. On December 1st, the operations of the International Equestrian Academy, managed by Étoile Riders Resorts, has been started, replacing the International Academy for Equestrian Studies. Stephan Kiesewetter leads the new Academy as a co-managing director and as chief trainer. The International Equestrian Academy is part of a full-service center for the serious rider. In addition to the Warendorf Campus, we have additional top quality facilities for specialized programs. Étoile offers specialized consulting services; including support for a number of areas ranging from purchasing horses to managing riding facilities in Germany and abroad."
British COlumbia, Canada
In 2003, Marie moved to British Columbia to train with Henk and Lori Glijn. Through Henk, Marie learned the handling of stallions and starting youngsters and the techniques of Piet Oothout, and. "Mr. Oothout is found at the basics of many F.E.I. Dressage competitors. Riders and horse owners from all over Europe frequent his renowned dressage stables. In 1984 he trained the Dutch National Team for the Los Angeles Olympics."
SOuthern California
In 2006, Marie first came to Southern California to continue her pursuit of a career in Dressage and to begin a working student position with Sue Blinks, an American dressage rider and trainer who represented the US in the 2000 Olympic Games and 2002 World Championships. After three years of being a working student for Sue, Marie started as a working student for Christine Traurig, and American Rider who was born in Germany and represented the US in the 2000 Olympic Games and is the current USEF Young Horse Coach.
Marie worked her way up to Assistant Trainer and continued working directly under Christine for three years. While working for Christine, Marie acquired her first client and began working with Guenter Seidel who had a long standing relationship with this client. Her business has flourished ever since, and she still appreciates the continual guidance she receives from Christine and Guenter today.
